The M.AD Difference

A Social Strategist (or any social media pro) needs to think fast on their feet. It’s a high-speed, high-energy space, where the rules are anything but set in stone.

We teach our students, not just to survive in that environment, but to excel and change the game. At MAD, you’ll learn to use social tools and data to develop audience insights. You’ll collaborate with art directors, designers, and copywriters to bring your strategies to life. You and your creative team will work on a live client brief. It’s not about whose idea it is, it’s about the team and the process that gets you to great ideas. Maybe the client likes the team’s idea and implements it. Our students and their creative teams have worked with start-ups and big brands like Starbucks, Ford and Burger King. You’ll also get an insiders look at some of the best social strategy departments and receive placement assistance.

“The people who really flourish in social marketing are those who genuinely love social media. Social moves so quickly to be an expert in the space you’ve got to have a passion for it.”

The Social Strategy Curriculum at M.AD

What (and how) you’ll be learning.

Learn by doing. In 12 short (but intense) weeks you’ll learn to develop social media strategies and campaigns. You’ll have the skills you need to show your future employer you can build brands using social media.

Each week your mentor will be a different social media expert. Instructors include professionals from Facebook, Google and top agencies like Sapient and R/GA. In each 3-day session they’ll cover a different aspect of social media. You’ll learn the different aspects of social media from content strategies, paid media and texting campaigns, to understanding data and analytics.

The rest of the week is the best part: you partner with a content creation team and based on your social strategy develop a social media campaign including videos, Facebook ads, Tweets and anything else that will create an engaged following for your brand.

In the final week of the Boot Camp visit a variety of ad agencies, brands and media firms. Experience the different types of social media work environments. You’ll meet the people in the social media departments and increase your network of industry contacts.

Here are a few of the classes you’ll take:

  • Workshop SM
  • The Pitch SM
  • Social 101 / The Social Marketing Plan
  • Social Strategies That Work
  • Decode a Social Campaign
  • Listen, Analyze, and Strategize
  • Industry Heroes SM – Fueling Social Engagement Through Paid Media
  • Industry Heroes SM – Understanding Influence
  • Industry Heroes SM – Social Publishing at Scale
  • Industry Heroes SM – Design a Social Campaign
